Property Maintenance & Code Enforcement

Purpose
The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing the codes and ordinances to help ensure the safety, welfare, quality of life and promote the general harmony of the community. These laws do not cover every type of disturbance possible.

How does it work?

Code enforcement action in Leetsdale occurs in response to concerns raised by residents and property owners. These concerns include, but are not limited to, high grass and weeds, inoperative vehicles, maintenance of structures, unsafe conditions, and public nuisances. 

Upon receiving a written complaint, the Code Enforcement Officer will inspect the property, typically within 24 hours. In the event a violation exists, a letter will be sent to the property owner explaining the nature of the violation, the ordinance code regulating the violation, and a date by which the violation is to be corrected.

Confidential Process

All written complaints are confidential and are not subject to inspection under the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law.

Registering a complaint
To report a potential violation, please complete the Complaint Form and drop it off at the Borough Office. You can also call or email the office for further direction.  

What should I do if I receive a Notice of Violation letter?
Please discuss with the Code Enforcement Officer both the violation and what needs to be done to bring the property to compliance. Some violations can be deemed safety hazards and must be corrected in a timely fashion. If you are averse to correcting the violation, you may be subject to fines and penalties.
